Jane Alford studied embroidery and design at the London College of Fashion. After graduating she worked as a canvaswork designer in Oslo for a year, before returning to the UK to work as a freelance magazine designer. Jane now runs her own successful cross stitch business, designing and making kits. She has also written numerous articles and boks on this popular technique. When not engaged in embroidery work Jane likes to paint with watercolours.

Taking her inspiration from original patterns, Jane Alford shows how to create a beatiful selection of traditional floral designs.

Worked on canvas with a combination of mainly cross stitch and tent stitch, Berlin Woolw worked on canvas and the stitches included tent and cross stitch. In this book Jane Alford shares her enthusiasm and admiration for the beautiful embroideries of this bygone era. Using the clear colour charts the reader can recreate the vibrancy and beauty of the original floral designs, from lily of the valley and pansies to beaded poppies and roses.
